Antwon Tanner, an actor who plays a character “Skills” on a popular TV Show “One Tree Hill”, pleaded guilty Friday, 8/21/09, to identity theft, confirming that he was the middleman in a scam involving bogus Social Security numbers.

Tanner was caught selling 16 fake Social Security numbers and 3 fake Social Security cards for $10,000 to an undercover agent in a scheme uncovered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

His sentencing date is scheduled for November 20th, 2009 and he could get up to one year in prison and a fine of $250,000.00.

Tanner is being investigated by the authorities in the state of California for a similar crime.

Alright, what is wrong with this picture? Most actors work hard to get to his professional level and Tanner just goes and messes it up! Wasn’t he get paid? Was he getting greedy? Or what? How upsetting it is that he used his name and status to commit a crime. Not only did he ruin his career, he ruined his own life. Was it really worth it?

Is it the case of “I am a celebrity; I can get away with everything”? Tanner admitted to being a middleman, but I sure hope that he will cooperated with the authorities and gives them the names of those who were operating the scam. Only a one year sentence? Hmm… I do not think he will learn anything.
