Facebook and your Privacy, Pt. 1

I love Facebook! Don’t you?

Facebook allows me to reconnect with my old friends, find new ones and interact with a lot of people on every-day basis.

However, Facebook and other social networking sites make the lives of identity thieves so much easier.

The information we provide is like a treasure trove in the wrong hands. According to the Carnegie Mellon research , just having a birth date and a state of birth makes it very easy to predict a social security number with great accuracy.

Without even suspecting, you are giving out information, which in the past would take a long time to gather and pretty expensive to obtain.

The next time you are on Facebook, think twice about displaying your Date of Birth, email address, residence address, phone numbers, your hometown, etc.

Stay safe!
