Does Facebook REALLY care about your privacy?
The answer is “NO”! Not really… If it wasn’t for the Privacy Activists, Facebook would probably never implement security and privacy features.
YOU ARE MAYBE SHARING MORE THAN YOU WANT WITHOUT REALIZING IT!
I love Facebook! But I do not love how Facebook is treating our data. I absolutely dislike how Facebook is sharing and selling our information.
However, Facebook is not the only one to blame. We take big part in deciding what information we want to share. People document every single aspect of their lives on Facebook. You can find addresses, phone numbers, employers, and other private information on Facebook. Some people even post pictures of their Driver’s License!
Technology makes it extremely easy for us to connect and share. So easy that you can pretty much do anything from your smart phone. Even sync with your Facebook profile. It is absolutely fine; however, when you do that, you may be doing a lot more than just sync, you may be uploading the contents of your address book to your Facebook profile. Yes! All of your contacts from your smart phone can be found on Facebook!
This is why it is important to make sure that when you are syncing your smart phone with your Facebook Profile, you need to disable the import feature on your phone.
If you mistakenly uploaded your contacts, you can delete them from Facebook. Go to “Account“, Click on “Edit Friends“, then click on “Contacts“. You will see your Facebook friends and your imported contacts there.
To remove your imported contact:
To the right of the page, there is sidebar with a title “Phonebook Contacts” with two short paragraphs
Facebook Phonebook displays contacts you have imported from your phone, as well as your Facebook friends.
If you would like to remove your mobile contacts from Facebook, you need to disable the feature on your mobile phone and visit this page.
Click on the link provided and you will be taken to the “Remove Imported Contacts” page. Follow instructions and click on “Remove“.
Stay safe and be stingy with the information you share!
